Egypt To Host Forum On African Security

Egypt will host the 3rd forum for the UN secretary-general’s personal representatives and international envoys to Africa on African security on Monday and Tuesday, state media reported Friday.

Aiming to tackle the challenges of the 21st century’s conflicts and the military and civil relations in the newly appeared democratic countries, the forum will be organized by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and Cairo Regional Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa in coordination with the African Union (AU) Commission, state news agency MENA reported.

The forum will also discuss the role of the civil society to spread and support peace and security in Africa.

Cairo has hosted this forum twice in the past two years.

Almost 200 African and international figures will attend the forum, including AU Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor and other high- profile officials of UN and AU as well as regional organizations.
