Egypt is set to host a Syrian opposition conference 8-9 June, the second such conference this year.
The announcement of the dates of the conference comes after a Cairo conference committee agreed on the topics to be discussed, a foreign ministry press statement read.
“The conference aims to express the vision of Syria’s opposition on the next steps forward to end the Syrian crisis,” the statement read.
The conference will also, according to the statement, discuss how the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people for change can be achieved while protecting the unity of Syrian lands and the integrity of state institutions.
Egypt has been advocating a political solution in war-torn Syria. It hosted the first Syria opposition conference in January.
The country also hosts a population of Syrian refugees, around 140,000 of whom are registered with the UNHCR.
