Egypt to implement new standards for automotive sales market
Egypt is set to announce clear standards for its automotive sales sector to enhance market regulation and protect consumers. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasised that a significant portion of imports should adhere to these standards, especially for agents with service centres in Egypt and those with car assembly factories. He also called for a meeting with automotive sector officials and representatives to discuss the necessary standards to achieve the state’s objectives.
The government reviewed strategies to localise and advance car manufacturing in Egypt, particularly for electric vehicles (EV). This includes offering incentives to attract global companies to the Egyptian market, and utilising Egypt’s supportive infrastructure for this purpose.
Additionally, standards for importing vehicles for people with disabilities were discussed to ensure that the support allocated reaches deserving individuals without exploitation.
