Egypt to launch incentive programme for families with 2 children

Egypt will launch an annual incentive of 1,000 Egyptian Pounds for married women above 45 age, who have no more than two children as part of its efforts to address the issue of overpopulation, State Information Service announced on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly attended the signing cooperation protocol between the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala al-Saeed and Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait.

The programme falls under the National Project for Development of the Egyptian Family (NPDEF), which aims to tackle the overpopulation crisis by improving demographic characteristics.

These characteristics, including education, health, job opportunities, economic empowerment, and culture, and controlling population growth, according to Madbouly.

Maait added that the government will create an account under the unified treasury account, to issue government bonds or documents with the dues of women committed to its terms.
