Egyptian Cabinet has recently decided to assign launching the integrated operator licence decision to the Ministry, noting that the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) started the regulatory procedures of the licence since December2012 in order to issue unified license for the operators firms to have the same rights, Eng. Atef Helmy, the Minister asserted.
By Next June30 all the licensces will be finalized so as to enter implementation frame, stressing that Telecom Egypt (ETAL-CA)(ET) must exit from Vodafone’s shares within one year, Helmy added.
The regulatory procedures included granting mobile operators fixed services as well as cooperation with consulting firms to give mobile operators international gateway licence within two years at most.
NTRA has settled all non-competitive practices such as the differentiation of Telecom Egypt to certain Internet firms in addition to mobile operator’s discrimination through offers of bundled fixed and mobile Internet.
The interdependence between Telecom Egypt and Etisalat Egypt has been solved, in addition to waiting for the solution of interdependence between TE and Mobile Operators dilemma.
The problems of mobile operators to provide compound services which suffered of many difficulties of providing services by Telecom Egypt have been also solved.
