Egypt to resume SAT exam after 4-yr hiatus

Egypt’s Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif announced the official reinstatement of the SAT exam in Egypt starting from June 2025, after a cooperation protocol between with the US-based College Board, as per a Cabinet statement.

The protocol is part of the ministry’s vision to improve pre-university education and enhance globally recognised university readiness programmes, including the reintroduction of the SAT exam in Egypt starting next June.

Abdel Latif highlighted that partnering with the College Board is a significant step in the ministry’s strategy to prepare Egyptian students for regional and international competition. The collaboration aims to offer equitable and varied educational opportunities to meet the needs of all students.

The minister expressed confidence in Egypt’s education system with the reinstatement of the SAT exam after a four-year suspension, aligning with global standards, as per the statement.

He emphasised the need to choose examination centres carefully to ensure reliable and qualified institutions are selected, ensuring smooth examination processes with high standards of integrity and confidentiality.

Additionally, he underscored the necessity of sharing information related to the centres while fully preserving student data privacy and complying with relevant regulations, the statement added.

The Regional Director of the College Board for Southwest Asia and North Africa reiterated his dedication to collaborating with the Egyptian government to support students and help them access top global higher education institutions.

He pointed out that Egypt represents a promising educational market, and the College Board is keen to be an active partner in the development of Egyptian education, the release explained.
