Egypt plans to conduct an advanced seismic survey in the Eastern Mediterranean using Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN) imaging technology, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy said on Wednesday.
The move is part of the ministry’s strategy to expand exploration activities and maximise the utilisation of the country’s petroleum and gas resources, Badawy added.
He made the announcement during a field visit to the southern Western Desert, where he inspected the launch of seismic survey operations west of Assiut, aimed at attracting new investment in Egypt’s oil and gas sector.
