The UAE chief of staff met on Monday with Egypt’s defence minister Sedki Sobhi to discuss military cooperation between the two countries, Egyptian military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said.
Emirati Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al-Rumaithi is visiting Egypt with an Emirati delegation to hold military cooperation talks with top Egyptian military officials.
The officials discussed several issues of mutual interest with a focus on the fight against terrorism in the MENA region.
Al-Rumaithi had earlier met with Egypt’s chief of staff Lieutenant General Mahmoud Hegazy to discuss strategic cooperation.
Egypt and the UAE have both been part of a Saudi-led Arab military campaign against the Houthi rebels in Yemen since March 2015.
Army forces of both countries have also participated in joint maneuvers since 2014.
