Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with British Ambassador to Egypt Gareth Bayley on Monday to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation and attracting further investment in the electricity sector, particularly in renewable energy projects, as per a Cabinet statement.
Esmat highlighted Egypt’s efforts to enhance environmental sustainability through renewable energy expansion, green hydrogen projects, and digital transformation in the electricity sector.
Discussions also covered green certificates and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) networks for cross-border power interconnection.
The minister underscored the potential for British companies to invest in Egypt’s clean energy sector as part of the country’s 2030 sustainability goals.
He invited UK firms to expand their investments in solar and wind energy, aligning with Egypt’s strategy to become a regional hub for renewable energy.
