Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Chitose Noguchi, the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) resident representative in Cairo, to discuss expanding cooperation in the health sector, the ministry said on Tuesday.
Abdel Ghaffar reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to its partnership with UNDP, citing collaboration on HIV/AIDS, medical waste management at the Suez Medical Complex, and grants for national health programmes.
He also invited UNDP to take part in the third Global Congress on Population, Health and Development (PHDC), due to be held in Cairo on Nov. 10–13, to promote scientific and practical exchanges.
Noguchi said UNDP was ready to deepen its cooperation with Egypt and confirmed the agency’s support for the upcoming conference, according to the statement.
