Egypt Unearths Tomb For Pharaonic Minister In Luxor

Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim Ali announced new discovery for a tomb of a Pharaonic minister that dates back to the period of King Ramses II, who ruled Egypt from 1304 B.C. till 1237 B.C., official news agency MENA reported on Wednesday.

The tomb belongs to ancient minister Khai of Upper and Lower Egypt in Luxor governorate, MENA quoted Ali as saying in a press conference.

The new unearthed tomb was discovered in the same axe of Ramesseum Temple that was built during the time of King Ramses II, said Ali, adding that more parts of the tomb would be unveiled after a team from a university in Belgium finished their excavation works.

Mansour Boraik, field director of excavations in Luxor, said Khai remained in office as minister for 15 years and his main task was to supervise the workers who were assigned to build royal tombs in valley of the king and queen.
