Egypt unveils incentives to boost private universities
Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala al-Saeed discussed the 24–25 educational strategy, emphasising incentives for private university investments and enhancing Egyptian universities’ quality and global ranking.
The minister affirmed education as a developmental cornerstone and a state priority for societal and economic growth. This came during a meeting on Sunday with Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Minister al-Saeed further assessed national projects, giving precedence to those nearing completion or largely progressing, existing initiatives, and suggested plan expansions, highlighting the importance of aligning higher education growth with the nation’s resource planning due to its sustainable nature.
The strategy encompasses finalising tech universities, broadening technical training, upgrading community colleges, sustaining scholarship schemes, transitioning to digital exams, progressing the Egyptian Genome Initiative, modernising university hospitals, and refining health education. A strategic blueprint is underway to synchronise operations across university medical centres.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the ministry’s research agenda, focusing on setting up the African Space Agency’s base and finalising research institute frameworks. It also appraised the accomplishments in higher education and research for the financial years 2023–2024.
