In response to Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated media reports that have tried to undermine the relationship between Egypt and Kuwait, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that Egypt deeply appreciates its strong relations with the state and people of Kuwait in the face of various challenges the countries are facing.
Earlier this month, the MB-affiliated satellite channel Mekameleen TV aired an audio recording allegedly of a telephone call between an intelligence officer and TV host Azmi Megahed, during which the latter receives instructions to attack Kuwait. The call also included insults against people from the Gulf.
Abu Zeid warned against the danger of paying attention to attempts by the Muslim Brotherhood to alienate and damage Egypt’s relations with its Arab brothers.
He added that the policy of the Foreign Ministry is to not comment on reports like these which only reflect the desperation of those who issue them.
However, the Foreign Ministry said it would like to reiterate its position on the State of Kuwait and its brothers from the Gulf countries known for its support to Egypt and respect for the will of its people. Source: Al-Masry Al-Youm
