Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities reported on Monday that 14.3 million tourists visited the country between January and November 2024. This marks a 3.97 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, despite ongoing geopolitical challenges in the region, the ministry said in a statement.
Tourist overnight stays surged to 151.3 million nights, reflecting a 7.8 per cent rise year-on-year. Tourism revenue also soared, reaching $14.1 billion—up 7.8 per cent from 2023.
The ministry credited these achievements to strategic efforts to enhance the visitor experience and promote Egypt as a leading global destination.
Adding to the industry’s accolades, Egypt climbed four spots in the World Economic Forum’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report in May 2024, cementing its position as a top-tier travel hub. This progress compares favourably with rankings from both 2019, the last regular year before the pandemic, and 2023, the first full recovery year.
With robust performance and continued growth, Egypt’s tourism sector is well on track to achieve its long-term goals, reinforcing its status as a global hotspot for travellers.
