Egyptian banking sector support underprivileged communities in Alexandria – CBE
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the broader banking sector have joined forces with the Tahya Misr Fund to support the Week of Goodness Initiative in Alexandria. This initiative aims to provide essential services and support to underprivileged communities in the city, a CBE statement said on Tuesday.
Key activities undertaken during the Week of Goodness include:
- Medical Convoy: A large-scale medical convoy was organised to offer free medical consultations, treatments, and diagnostic tests. The convoy also provided essential medical supplies like glasses, hearing aids, and prosthetics.
- Social Support: Essential goods were distributed as part of the Joyful Shop Initiative, which provides wedding essentials for underprivileged brides.
- Disability Support: The Best Friend Initiative was launched to raise awareness about the importance of integrated services cards for people with disabilities and provide essential tools and services to enhance their quality of life.
These efforts align with the Egyptian government’s broader vision of social justice and sustainable development. By supporting such initiatives, the CBE and the banking sector are demonstrating their commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged citizens.
