Egyptian Exchange suspends EGX50 EWI index
The Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) decided on Wednesday to suspend trading on the EGX50 EWI index, starting form the first of August.
The decision came in the EGX’s framework of redirecting towards permanent updating and continuous development of market indicators.
This will ensure the diversification of tools to measure the market performance in different categories for investors.
The EGX conducted an opinion poll for a group of 17 investment research centers, asset management companies, and investment funds.
The results showed that the EGX50 EWI index is one of the least used indices at a rate of 94 percent, therefore it was decided to suspend the index.
