Egyptian ministries step up coordination to shield exports amid airspace closures
Egypt’s Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Supply and Internal Trade, and Agriculture are intensifying coordination to mitigate the impact of airspace closures in several countries on Egyptian exports, particularly perishable agricultural goods.
The authorities are monitoring developments around the clock, working closely with export councils, companies, and relevant agencies to ensure rapid, sector-specific responses.
The ministries said in a joint statement on Sunday that the efforts include exploring alternative shipping routes via sea and land, creating regulatory and commercial mechanisms to reroute affected shipments, and coordinating with domestic supply chains to absorb additional products without destabilizing local markets.
They urged exporters to report obstacles to the appropriate agencies for immediate technical or procedural support. Key points of contact include the Export and Import Control Authority, the Holding Company for Food Industries, and the Central Administration for Plant Quarantine.
The three ministries emphasised their ongoing joint coordination to maintain the flow of goods, safeguard exporters and producers, and ensure market stability.
