Egyptian pound edges up slightly against dollar in early Wednesday trading
The Egyptian pound inched higher against the US dollar in early trading on Wednesday, official bank data showed, though it remained within a narrow range after weeks of relative stability.
As of 11:07 a.m. Cairo time (09:07 GMT), major banks quoted the pound at:
| Bank | Buy (EGP/USD) | Sell (EGP/USD) |
| National Bank of Egypt (NBE) | 47.65 | 47.75 |
| Banque Misr | 47.62 | 47.72 |
| Commercial International Bank (CIB) | 47.67 | 47.77 |
| QNB Alahli | 47.6000 | 47.7000 |
| Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) | 47.8800 | 47.9800 |
The pound has traded in a tight band in recent weeks, reflecting relative stability following months of volatility earlier this year, when persistent foreign currency shortages and high inflation pressured the market.
