Egypt’s Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour announced Saturday a revamp on the Egyptian side of the Egyptian-Russian Business Council.
As pursuant to the recent revamp, the council is now chaired by Ahmed El-Wakil – who is also the Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC).
The new board members of the Egyptian- Russian Business Council (Egyptian part) currently include:
- Eng. Ashraf Khaled Daoud – Chairman of National Sonac for Trade Company
- Eng. Helmy Ali Eissa – General Manager, Nahdet Misr Co. for Agro Industries
- Eng. Hesham Samir El-Naggar – Deputy Chairman & CEO of Daltex Agriculture Co.
- Eng. Sherif El Maghraby – Chairman of Magrabi Agriculture – Mafa
- Ezzat Saad – former ambassador of Egypt in Moscow
- Farida Mohammed Farid Khamis – Vice chairperson of Oriental Weavers
- Dr. Makram Sayed Mehany – Chairman and Managing Director of Global Napi Pharmaceuticals
- Eng. Founder, Karim Ghabbour – Founder of Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles (MCV)
- Zaki Bassiouny – Chairman of Metallurgical Industries Company
- Hassan Soliman – Lada Egypt
- Dr. Mostafa Khalil – chairman and managing director of Royal Manta Travel

Following the revamp, the Egyptian minister noted that the council targets doubling Egypt’s exports to the Russian market, improving the intra-trade between the two countries and enhancing the co-investments in the upcoming period. Such plans come in the light of the recent political and economic rapprochement between Cairo and Moscow, he explained.
In addition to the revamp, the ministerial decree also stipulated that the Council shall submit a half-annual report to the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade, involving its activities, future plans, and suggestions to develop the mutual interests for both countries.
Moreover, Abdel Nour affirmed that the council seeks to attract more Russian companies to invest in Egypt and seize the available investment opportunities there.
