Egyptian stocks end week in mixed notes, main index slides 0.3%

Egyptian stock market closed in mixed notes on Thursday coinciding with the fourth day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Main index as EGX30 edged down 0.31 percent, to 7756.3 points.

During Ramadan, the trading sessions start at 10 a.m. Cairo Local Time (8:00 GMT) and end at 1:30 p.m. (11:30 GMT), reducing trading hours by one hour.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index fell 0.27 percent, to 1411.93 points; while EGX20 tumbled 0.74 percent, to 7990.8 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 rose 0.26 percent, to 373.15 points. Price index, EGX100 dropped 0.02 percent, to 791.84 points.

Market Caps

Market capitalisation incurred mild losses worth 187 million Egyptian pounds ($21.06 million), to record 409.315 billion pounds during the closing session of Thursday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 104.611 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 816.438 million pounds, exchanged through 15,060 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 153 listed securities have been traded in, 67 declined, 50 advanced; while 32 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and Arab investors were net sellers controlling 80.88 and 2.55 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 69.049 million pounds and 4.188 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers capturing 16.57 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 73.237 million pounds, excluding the deals.
