Egyptian customs points reported on Saturday the entry of more than 306 kilograms of gold from travellers during the time from May 11th to June 22nd.
The Egyptian cabinet approved a draft law in May exempting gold imports by travellers from customs duties for six months.
This move is set to stabilise gold prices in the market as well as control gold smuggling across customs points.
Excluded from the draft law of exemption are natural pearls, cultured pearls, precious stones, and semi-precious stones.
