Egypt’s agricultural exports exceed 7.2m tons so far in 2025 – minister
Egypt’s agricultural exports have risen to more than 7.2 million tons so far in 2025, up by over 600,000 tons from the same period last year, Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk said on Monday.
Citrus fruit accounted for the largest share with more than 1.9 million tons, followed by potatoes at 1.3 million tons, onions at 256,000 tons, beans at 231,000 tons, and sweet potatoes at 190,000 tons. Grapes, mangoes, tomatoes, garlic, pomegranates, strawberries, and guavas also featured among the leading exports.
Farouk said the increase highlights Egypt’s competitiveness in global markets and reflects government efforts to expand agricultural output, open new destinations for trade, and enforce strict quality standards. He credited farmers, exporters, and regulatory bodies, including the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine, for driving the growth.
