Egypt’s annual core inflation hits 12.7% in February – CBE
Egypt’s annual core inflation rate recorded 12.7 per cent in February, up from 11.2 per cent in January, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Tuesday.
On a monthly basis, core consumer prices reached 3.0 per cent in February, compared with 1.2 per cent in January and 1.6 per cent in February 2025, the central bank said in a statement.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, is closely watched by policymakers as a key gauge of underlying price pressures and a guide for potential interest rate decisions.
The central bank is scheduled to publish its full monthly inflation report on 15 March, providing a more detailed breakdown of price developments in the economy.
