Egypt’s annual urban consumer inflation accelerated to 6.1 percent in July, compared to 5.3 percent in June, official statistics agency CAPMAS said on Tuesday.

Month-on-month headline inflation in June rose to 1 percent, from 0.9% in April.

The consumer price index (CPI) recorded 114.4 points in July, the CAPMAS statement added.

Prices of electricity, gas, and other fuel also hiked by 8.9 percent, tourist tours by 6.9 percent, and personal hygiene products by 1.2 percent.
