Egypt’s Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) inaugurated on Wednesday a new cellular towers manufacturing centre at its aircraft factory to boost local manufacturing, as part of the government’s Made in Egypt initiative.
The centre has top-of-the-line CNC digital machinery to produce high-quality towers. Employees have undergone extensive training in line with the fourth industrial revolution to operate these advanced machines.
The AOI’s aircraft factory successfully manufactured cellular telecom towers with a 100 per cent local manufacturing ratio. This marks the beginning of supplying Egypt’s telecom companies with these towers to meet their increasing demands.
Mokhtar Abdel Latif, AOI Chairman, announced that E& Egypt has delivered 67 cellular towers by June 2024 under a framework agreement with the aircraft factory. An additional order for 70 towers is currently being fulfilled, with delivery expected by September 2024.
The AOI aims to enhance collaboration with Egyptian telecom companies, create smart solutions, and leverage local expertise and manufacturing capabilities to serve the domestic market and expand exports to African and Arab nations.
