Egypt’s Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) Head Adel Abdel Azim met with New Valley Governor Mohamed El-Zamlout on Wednesday to discuss proposed agricultural cooperation in the governorate, the ministry of agriculture said.
El-Zamlout highlighted ongoing projects in land reclamation, strategic and medicinal crops, and modern irrigation systems, emphasizing New Valley’s potential as a hub for agricultural investment. He praised the ARC for its technical, research, and training support for farmers and expressed commitment to deepening collaboration to enhance productivity and farmers’ livelihoods.
Abdel Azim said New Valley is a priority for the centre as a model for horizontal expansion and new agricultural development. He assured that all ARC institutes and departments are ready to provide modern solutions and technologies in crop, livestock, and poultry production.
The officials also discussed specialised training programmes for young farmers and agricultural engineers on modern techniques, integrated crop and livestock management, and pest control, aimed at meeting labour market needs and boosting the competitiveness of agricultural products.
Both sides agreed to establish joint working teams to oversee implementation of agreed programmes and projects, aiming to maximise benefits and position New Valley as a leading national centre for agriculture and production.
