Egypt’s August manufacturing output dips 1.1% m/m – CAPMAS
Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries production index, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, fell 1.1 per cent month-on-month in August, according to preliminary data released on Thursday by the country’s statistics agency CAPMAS.
The index recorded 126.24 in August 2025, down from a revised 127.60 in July, the agency said.
The data is based on an updated methodology that uses 2012/2013 as the base year and follows the International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC Rev.4). CAPMAS has applied the updated framework since January 2020.
Sectors showing growth:
Output in the ready-made garments industry rose 7.7 per cent month-on-month, driven by higher supply and demand, while the printing and recorded media sector increased 7.9 per cent, supported by market activity.
Sectors declining:
Production in the food industry fell 1.5 per cent as the agricultural season for several crops ended, while leather and leather products dropped 8.1 per cent due to rising inventories.
