Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced on Tuesday that the Belayim Offshore 133 Well has begun producing crude oil in the Sinai fields, marking a new boost to domestic output.
The well was drilled and brought online by Petrobel, a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Italian energy company Eni. The move is part of the ministry’s strategy to increase crude production, reduce reliance on imports, and meet growing local demand.
The Belayim Offshore 133 Well is the first result of Eni’s new investment programme in the Gulf of Suez, Sinai, and Nile Delta regions, under an agreement with EGPC to inject fresh capital and enhance production rates across its concession areas.
The ministry said the project underscores Egypt’s ongoing efforts to expand domestic oil production and strengthen partnerships with international energy companies.
