Egypt’s c.bank governor meets IMF chief in Dubai to discuss economic reforms
Egypt’s central bank Governor Hassan Abdalla met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva during the World Government Summit 2026 in Dubai, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said in a statement on Wednesday.
The discussions focused on areas of cooperation and developments in Egypt’s macroeconomic indicators as part of the country’s ongoing economic reform programme implemented in partnership with the IMF.
The meeting included Mohamed Maait, executive director for the Arab Group at the IMF; Deputy Finance Minister Yasser Sobhy, and Jihad Azour, director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department.
The talks underscored the continuation of close collaboration between Egypt and the IMF to support macroeconomic stability and advance fiscal reforms.
