Egypt’s Cabinet approves Benha-Wuhan graduate school to boost research, innovation

Egypt’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved the establishment of the Benha-Wuhan Graduate School at Benha University, in partnership with China’s Wuhan University, in a move aimed at strengthening academic ties and advancing research collaboration.

According to a Cabinet statement, the new graduate school will offer postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees and doctorates in scientific and technological disciplines aligned with market demand. Programmes will focus on applied research and innovative solutions to industrial challenges, helping prepare a new generation of researchers capable of driving economic growth in Egypt and the wider region.

Students seeking a diploma must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and complete at least one year of study. Admission to master’s programmes requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of study and research, while doctoral candidates must hold a master’s degree and conduct original research for at least two years, in line with Egypt’s higher education regulations.

The government said the joint school is expected to act as a cultural and academic bridge between Egypt and China, supporting the country’s 2030 development goals and promoting knowledge transfer and innovation.
