Egypt’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a presidential decree formalising exchanged letters with Japan to implement the first phase of Cairo Metro Line 4, the government said in a statement.
The initial 19-kilometre phase will run from Hadayek Al Ashgar to Al Fustat, covering 17 stations — 16 underground and one above ground — and will link with Metro Line 1 at Al Malek Al Saleh station and Line 2 at Giza station.
The project aims to improve transport services in densely populated districts including Haram, Faisal, Omrania, and Giza, while connecting 6th of October City and the Grand Egyptian Museum to Cairo’s metro network. It is designed to meet international standards for urban mass transit systems.
