Egypt’s Cabinet grants golden licence for ASP’s silicon facility
Egypt’s Cabinet on Wednesday approved a golden licence for the Alamein for Silicon Products (ASP) to establish and operate a large-scale silicon production and purification plant in New Alamein City.
The project, covering 714,000 square metres, aims to raise Egyptian silicon exports by 50 per cent during its first phase, with plans to increase exports to 60 per cent in the second phase for intermediate silicones. The factory is also expected to help localise advanced production technologies, including electric furnace processes for metallic silicon and intermediate silicone manufacturing.
The government expects the project to be completed by the end of June 2027, creating around 250 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect employment opportunities, supporting both industrial growth and export diversification.
