Egypt’s Cabinet grants golden licence for MEDLOG dry port project

Egypt’s Cabinet approved on Wednesday the establishment of a dry port and logistics centre in 10th of Ramadan City, granting the project a golden licence aimed at boosting trade, easing congestion at seaports and creating jobs.

The project, managed by Medlog for the Tenth of Ramadan Dry Port, part of Swiss logistics group MEDLOG, was approved under the country’s Investment Law No. 72 of 2017. It will be developed under a public-private partnership on a 250-feddan site.

In January 2025, Egypt’s General Authority for Land and Dry Ports (GALDP) and MEDLOG signed a PPP contract covering the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the dry port and logistics zone.

The site will be split into two areas, with 130 feddans allocated to the dry port and 120 feddans to the logistics zone.

The project is expected to create around 650 direct and indirect jobs, improve logistics services, reduce shipping costs and enhance supply chain efficiency by linking manufacturing hubs more closely with consumption centres.

Seen as one of Egypt’s largest inland container depots, the facility will serve sectors including automotive, food processing, paper, electronics and textiles, and is designed to handle up to 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually.

The initiative forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional hub for transport, logistics and transit trade.
