Egypt’s CBE announces EGP 45b in T-bills
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, announced an auction on Sunday of 45 billion Egyptian pounds in treasury bills (T-bills).
The auction will be conducted in two tranches:
- 25 billion Egyptian pounds for 182 days, maturing on December 24, 2024.
- 20 billion Egyptian pounds for 364 days, maturing on June 23, 2025.
Treasury bills are short-term government debt instruments used to finance government activities. They offer investors a fixed rate of return over their maturity period, which typically ranges from three months to one year.
