Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat emphasised that digital technology is a powerful tool in tackling societal challenges, particularly climate change, as per a Cabinet statement on Monday.
Talaat made these remarks an event to announce the winning projects in the third session of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, the statement added.
He emphasised that the ministry is actively working to promote sustainable digital technology and support digital transformation in collaboration with all sectors of the state as part of Egypt’s digital vision implementation.
This allows for the delivery of digital government services to citizens, widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI), and nationwide high-speed internet access, solidifying Egypt’s top position in fixed broadband speed in Africa.
Furthermore, Talaat highlighted the ministry’s focus on building a skilled workforce in communications and IT, fostering innovation, and encouraging entrepreneurship through 23 Digital Egypt Innovation Hubs across the country.
He added that the ministry’s participation in the initiative reflects its commitment to a knowledge-based economy and technological innovation in climate action, developing smart solutions to mitigate climate change impacts.
Talaat expressed his eagerness to strengthen collaboration with partners in preparation for the initiative’s fourth edition, aiming to enhance participant support, raise awareness, and maximise the benefits of innovative ideas.
