Egypt’s core inflation hits 25.1% Y-o-Y in August – CBE
Egypt’s core consumer price index (CPI) inflation recorded 25.1 per cent year-on-year in August 2024 compared with 24.4 per cent in July 2024, central bank data showed on Tuesday.
On a monthly basis, the core CPI inflation, which excludes fuel and some volatile food items, recorded 0.9 percent in August 2024 compared with 0.3 percent in August 2023, and negative 0.5 percent in July 2024.
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) will release the monthly inflation note on September 15, 2024.
Urban headline CPI inflation registered 231.1 points in August 2024, pushing the monthly inflation rate to 1.9 per cent, according to data released by the country’s official statistics agency CAPMAS earlier the day. Additionally, the annual urban headline CPI inflation rate rose to 25.6 per cent, compared to 39.7 per cent in August 2023.
