Egypt’s December manufacturing output climbs 6.8% – CAPMAS
Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries expanded 6.8 per cent in December 2025 compared with November, supported by strong production in furniture and pharmaceuticals, according to preliminary data from the country’s statistics agency CAPMAS on Thursday.
The index, which excludes crude oil and petroleum products, rose to 127.19 in December from 119.04 in November. CAPMAS said it uses a revised methodology based on a 2012/2013 base year and ISIC Rev.4 industry classifications, applying monthly producer prices since January 2020.
Pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and medicinal products output grew 5.89 per cent to 162.93, while furniture production surged 60.57 per cent to 374.26, reflecting higher manufacturing activity.
Conversely, leather and leather products fell 25.73 per cent to 38.25 amid lower exports, and paper and paper products dropped 7.24 per cent to 74.99 due to maintenance-related production halts, CAPMAS reported.
