Egypt targets boost in population indicators to over 70% by ’27

Egypt’s health ministry aims to raise population indicators in low-performing areas—those below 50 per cent—to over 70 per cent by the end of 2027, as a strategic goal of the National Strategy on Population and Development (2023–2030), deputy health minister Abla Al Alfi said.

This came during a meeting of the National Population Council to review the first phase (2024–2025) of the National Strategy (2023–2030) and discuss the second phase (2026–2027).

Discussion also covered the 2025–2027 urgent plan, aimed at accelerating implementation and developing evidence-based policies.

The meeting reviewed plans for a nationwide awareness campaign on birth spacing, the production of a Ramadan drama addressing population issues, revisions to survey questionnaires to include topics such as delaying first pregnancies and analysing divorce causes, and the preparation of a scientific paper outlining achievements and challenges.
