Egypt’s deputy PM reviews medicine stocks, tightens oversight to ensure steady supply

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar chaired a meeting on Wednesday to assess the availability of medicines and medical supplies in state warehouses, the Cabinet said in a statement.

Abdel Ghaffar called for closer coordination with suppliers and the redistribution of unused medical items to optimise stock use and prevent shortages. He also ordered faster delivery of new shipments to hospitals and clinics across the country.

The minister stressed the importance of stronger supply chain management, including electronic tracking and more frequent inspections of incoming shipments, to guarantee sustainable access to essential drugs and supplies.

The health ministry said it remains committed to maintaining an integrated system that meets citizens’ needs while ensuring transparent and efficient resource management.
