Egypt’s DRC, Food Bank eye rural cooperation efforts

Egypt’s Desert Research Centre (DRC) and the Egyptian Food Bank are exploring new avenues for cooperation to implement development projects aimed at improving livelihoods in the country’s most vulnerable regions, the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.

DRC head Hosam Shawky reviewed several proposed joint projects, including well drilling operations in the New Valley governorate. He noted that the DRC’s drilling unit has already conducted preliminary studies, with implementation set to begin soon using funds from the Egyptian Food Bank.

The DRC head emphasised the importance of expanding the partnership to include more development projects in the Sinai Peninsula in the coming period, in line with the state’s national development strategy. He confirmed the DRC’s commitment to providing the necessary logistical and technical support to ensure project success.
