The Egyptian Bioethanol Company (EBIOL), a subsidiary of Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), signed on Thursday an early works contract with China’s Tianchen Engineering Corporation (TCC) to keep its bioethanol production project on schedule, the petroleum ministry said.
The plant, part of Egypt’s green economy strategy, will produce 100,000 tons of bioethanol annually for blending with gasoline to cut carbon emissions.
EBIOL said the project has secured approvals and completed most infrastructure works, including natural gas, water and sewage facilities, as well as export pipelines linking the site to Damietta port.
