Egypt’s ECA wins Arab Competition Network award

The Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) received on Monday the Competition Policy award at the Arab Competition Network conference in Kuwait for its vertical agreements guidelines, recognising Egypt’s dedication to fair market competition.

The conference, attended by key regional and international competition officials, focused on enhancing cooperation and tackling cross-border anti-competitive practices, according to ECA’s statement.

Chairman of ECA, Mahmoud Momtaz, reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to international cooperation, highlighting 17 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed with competition authorities worldwide.

He suggested creating platforms for sharing non-confidential information among competing agencies, implementing MoUs, and organiaing regular meetings to coordinate inspection, particularly for global companies.

Momtaz was also recognised for his role in strengthening collaboration among Arab competition authorities and for leading the Arab Competition Network during its first two-year term, the statement added.
