Egypt’s EDA, Al-Andalous Pharma discuss industry challenges

Ali El-Ghamrawy, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held a meeting on Monday with representatives from Al Andalous Pharmaceutical Industries to discuss technical and procedural challenges facing the company, according to a Cabinet statement.

The meeting is part of the EDA’s ongoing efforts to bolster Egypt’s domestic pharmaceutical sector while adhering to internationally recognized regulatory standards, the statement said.

El-Ghamrawy reaffirmed the EDA’s commitment to providing necessary support to local companies, ensuring that assistance does not compromise the country’s rigorous standards for drug quality, safety, and efficacy.

“The EDA remains committed to strengthening collaboration with companies operating in Egypt,” El-Ghamrawy said. “We are focused on enhancing local manufacturing capabilities and achieving pharmaceutical self-sufficiency to ensure the availability of safe, high-quality medicines for Egyptian citizens.”

The EDA also pledged to offer technical and procedural support to companies striving for better performance, as long as they comply with legal and regulatory frameworks. This approach, El-Ghamrawy emphasized, will further solidify Egypt’s role as a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
