Egypt’s EDA discusses local pharmaceutical production with Viatris

Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Chairman Ali El-Ghamrawy has held an expanded meeting with a delegation from global pharmaceutical company Viatris, led by Cluster Head Egypt & North Africa Mohamed Sweilem.

The meeting underscored ongoing cooperation between the authority and its strategic partners in line with the government’s strategy to boost investment in the pharmaceutical sector.

Discussions focused on Viatris’ plans to localise medicine production in Egypt and expand investments in domestic manufacturing, while ensuring the steady availability of medicines for citizens.

The two sides also reviewed prospects for future strategic cooperation aimed at enhancing Egypt’s drug security and advancing sustainable development.
