The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding (EGAS) renewed on Tuesday its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Romanian state-owned gas pipeline operator Transgaz to strengthen collaboration in natural gas distribution. The signing took place on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2025).
The agreement builds on an initial MoU signed last October, aiming to explore joint projects. The Romanian company is also seeking further investment opportunities in Egypt.
Egypt’s efforts to expand its gas sector internationally have also been reinforced by the Town Gas – Egyptian Co. For Natural Gas Distribution in Cities. The company had previously secured contracts for the local manufacturing of natural gas pressure reduction stations in Egypt and agreements to supply natural gas to homes and facilities in Romania.
Notably, Town Gas became the first Egyptian company accredited by the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) to execute natural gas distribution projects in Europe.
Several projects remain under review, pending necessary funding to move forward. EGAS’s Planning and Projects Department is set to assess potential investment opportunities to further develop the sector.
