Egypt’s EHA eyes Indian tech for robotic surgery

Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) aims to localise robotic surgery and smart primary care models in its medical facilities through partnerships with Indian healthcare providers, on top of which are Apollo Hospitals and Aster Group, EHA head Ahmed El-Sobky has said.

El-Sobky made the remarks during a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh K. Reddy to explore cooperation in universal health coverage, e-health, clinical research, and other strategic areas.

He noted that strong political ties between Egypt and India have created a supportive climate for healthcare collaboration, adding that Egypt serves as Asia’s gateway to African markets thanks to its strategic location and leading role on the continent.

Ambassador Reddy sees Egypt as a vital gateway to Africa for the health and medical technology sectors. He expressed India’s commitment to a long-term partnership for sharing successful models and opening new opportunities in emerging markets. Reddy noted that Egypt’s healthcare market is promising for Indian companies specialising in medical technology and services, given the growing bilateral relations and opportunities for cooperation in health and technology innovation.
