The head of Egypt’s Healthcare Authority (EHA) Ahmed El-Sobky met on Sunday with the chief of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) Tarek El-Houby to review the implementation of the cooperation protocol between the two bodies, as per a Cabinet statement.
The meeting reviewed mechanisms to unify food policies across healthcare facilities in line with national safety standards. The protocol includes joint training programmes, launching awareness campaigns in governorates applying the universal health insurance system, and aligning practices with international benchmarks.
El-Sobky said the two sides agreed to roll out the “white list” of accredited factories and suppliers across healthcare facilities, ensuring food quality and safety standards.
Talks also covered cooperation on therapeutic nutrition, developing a mandatory training system for hospitality staff in healthcare facilities, and issuing joint guidelines on food handling. The two sides further discussed creating new specialised roles in food safety and a proposed accreditation certificate for healthcare facilities.
