Egypt’s El-Khatib meets Czech firms to boost investment

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib held a series of high-level meetings with executives from five major Czech firms during his visit to the Czech Republic, aiming to bolster Czech investments in Egypt, the Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The discussions highlighted Egypt’s economic strengths, competitive advantages, and the government’s efforts to develop a favourable investment environment and promote industrial development.

Linet: Localising Hospital Bed and Medical Supply Manufacturing

El-Khatib met with the Director of Strategic Projects at medical equipment manufacturer Linet Alexandr Jernek to discuss localising medical supplies and hospital bed manufacturing in Egypt.

The minister stressed Egypt’s commitment to localisation, citing competitive energy costs, robust infrastructure, and access to international markets as key advantages, according to the statement.

Sigma Group: Water Pump Manufacturing 

El-Khatib met with Sigma Group CEO Luboš Michlík to discuss potential collaboration on manufacturing water pump spare parts with the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI). They also plan to visit Cairo in August to explore local production options.

DRASLOVKA HOLDING: First Sodium Cyanide Plant in MENA

El-Khatib also met CEO of DRASLOVKA HOLDING Pavel Brůžek Jr., a firm specialising in chemical technologies, to follow up on the company’s $160 million project to establish a sodium cyanide plant in Egypt — the first of its kind in the MENA region. The firm is also considering relocating one of its factories to Egypt.

PFNonwovens: $100 Million Polypropylene Textile Project

The minister met CFO of PFNonwovens Holding Jindřich Lhota to review progress on a $100 million project in Egypt for producing polypropylene-based nonwoven textiles, with 60 per cent of production earmarked for export.

El-Khatib encouraged the firm to explore partnerships with recently modernised Egyptian manufacturers to expand local production.

Modelárna Liaz: AI-Powered Mineral Exploration Technologies

The minister also met Luboš Sperat of Modelárna Liaz, a company specialising in advanced mineral exploration technologies and AI-powered equipment.
