Egypt’s EMethanex Exports Hit EGP 1.1 Bln By End of May 2012

Egypt’s organic chemical industries exports have hit EGP 1.14 billion by the end of May 2012, achieving a substantial increase of 1610%. Noting that, Egypt’s organic chemical industries exports hit EGP 69 million by the end of May 2011.

According to a report issued by the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), the organic chemical industries have been mainly to EU countries of EGP 767.34 million, South Korea of EGP 214 million, Turkey of EGP 137 million and Sudan of EGP 10 million.

Additionally, GOEIC’s report has also mentioned that the top organic chemical industries exporter was the Egyptian Methanex Methanol Company S.A.E. (EMethanex) having exports of EGP 1.104 billion, representing 94% of the total exports till the end of May 2012.
