Egypt’s Env. Min. discusses climate cooperation with IPCC chair

Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad held a meeting with chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sir Jim Skea to discuss Egypt’s preparations for the Panel’s 63rd session scheduled for late October 2025 and explore mechanisms for Egypt’s engagement.

The talks took place on the sidelines of the 20th session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), hosted by Libya in Nairobi from July 14 to 18, under the theme “Four Decades of Environmental Action in Africa: Reflecting on the Past and Imagining the Future.”

Sir Jim Skea expressed the IPCC’s commitment to strengthening links between international environmental agreements and to enhancing the use of scientific insights to serve global climate efforts more effectively.

He also called for Egypt’s support in the Panel’s upcoming report, noting that the latest IPCC meeting addressed several key topics, including carbon neutrality reporting. He stressed the need for greater integration and coherence between countries’ climate reports moving forward.
